A savvy transfer opportunity may be staring Wolves in the face, and it involves Fabio Silva -…

It is expected that Fabio Silva will finally leave Wolves permanently this summer, with Borussia Dortmund having been pushing to sign the striker.

On Tuesday it was claimed that Borussia Dortmund had seen a third bid for Silva rejected.

That bid from Dortmund for Silva was thought to be worth around £17 million, but Wolves are holding out for £21.5 million plus bonuses.

Silva and Wolves have both been ‘adamant’ that a permanent exit will happen this summer.

This whole time, it’s been all about Wolves selling Silva and getting the highest possible price.

But there actually could be an interesting opportunity for Wolves if Dortmund still have a strong desire to land Fabio Silva.

As we know, Wolves are in the market for a new right wing-back, after Nelson Semedo left recently.

Wolves thought they were going to sign Marc Pubill, but the player joined Atletico Madrid at the eleventh hour.

But another player Wolves have looked at is Julian Ryerson, who just so happens to play for Borussia Dortmund.

With Wolves clearly needing a player for the right wing-back position, it surely makes sense for Wolves to look into a player-plus-cash deal involving Ryerson and Silva.

As Silva has a slightly higher market value than Ryerson, it should therefore be Ryerson-plus-cash for Silva.

If an agreement could be reached, Wolves would bring in a player for a position they desperately need to strengthen in, and also offload someone who’s wanted to leave for a while.

It feels like an opportunity, but we will see if it’s something Wolves look into.

Ryerson would be a great signing for Wolves

Of all the right wing-backs who have been linked with Wolves this summer, Ryerson is definitely one of the most exciting targets.

When he signed a contract extension at Borussia Dortmund last October, Ryerson was asked to describe his style of football and without hesitation, he replied: “Intense and aggressive. Lots of running, lots of fighting – in short: ‘I’ll give it my all’.

That immediately suggests him as a Vitor Pereira kind of player.

Crucially, he’d be a player to make an impact straight away, being a 27-year-old who has vast experience, playing in the Champions League and also representing Norway 34 times.

Furthermore, Ryerson offers an attacking threat, as evidenced by his haul of two goals and four assists last term, and also versatility (he can play on the left), which is always helpful.
