The Red Dragons are seemingly not done shopping yet this summer, and The Wrexham Insider has exclusive information on their pursuit of Lewis Koumas, including details of what Liverpool are looking for in the loan deal.
Wrexham have been busy this summer, with eight confirmed transfers already through the door and some big names vastly improving the quality of Phil Parkinson’s squad.
We’ve seen defenders and attackers come in, but Wrexham have done very little to strengthen out wide, and that’s where Lewis Koumas could come in.
Last week, it was thought Wrexham were in advanced talks to sign Koumas, but a deal is still far from complete at this stage, as other Championship clubs make their move.

Liverpool want Lewis Koumas to get plenty of minutes on loan
Thanks to information from our transfer expert Graeme Bailey, The Wrexham Insidercan exclusively reveal that Wrexham are joined by a whole host of other Championship clubs in the pursuit of the Liverpool youngster.
We understand Norwich City, Derby County, Hull City, and Sheffield United are among those chasing Koumas, but nearly half of the league have shown an interest this summer.
The key to winning this race, it seems, is in assuring Liverpool that Koumas will get regular game time. That’s thought to be the key factor for the Premier League champions, and they will now assess the various options available to Koumas before making a decision.

Lewis Koumas needs to build on an incredible 2024/25 campaign
One Liverpool expert told us Koumas may not fit Wrexham’s standard 3-5-2 formation, and he does have a point. With the youngster far more effective on the wing, there is a question as to just how effective he would be under Parkinson.

If Liverpool are keen for Koumas to get regular minutes, Wrexham may end up losing out unless Parkinson was willing to drastically alter his tactical shape; something that is incredibly unlikely.
Koumas had a brilliant season with Stoke City in 2024/25, appearing 49 times and registering 2,862 minutes across the campaign in all competitions.
He was able to contribute six goals and three assists and would surely be keen to get that to double figures this year wherever he ends up.
Statistics Lewis Koumas
Appearances 49
Minutes 2,862
Goals 6
Assists 3
xG 5.0
Progressive carries/90 2.58
Shot-creating actions/90 1.84

If we dig deeper into Koumas’ statistics, he did have a surprisingly low shot-creating actions per 90 return at 1.84, and just 0.15 goal-creating actions per 90. However, his xG was 5.0 and he outperformed that, so as always, we should take statistics with a pinch of salt.
What is promising, though, is that Koumas registered an average of 2.58 progressive carries per 90, suggesting he is not afraid to run with the ball and make things happen in the attacking third.
