Leeds United are in the market for a striker, and Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz has been their top target all summer. However, the transfer saga has unfolded gradually over the last few weeks, and Atalanta’s entry in the race has quickened the possibility of the forward leaving the club in the coming days.
Muniz was identified as the top striker target early in the transfer window, but Fulham have been insistent for weeks that the Brazilian is not for sale. However, Leeds have received encouragement from the striker’s camp to pursue a deal amid interest from Serie A club Atalanta, who are also in the Champions League.

Fulham are waiting for Leeds United to make another bid for Rodrigo Muniz
Despite Atalanta securing the striker’s consent, Leeds have not walked away from a deal and are still confident of convincing him to move to Elland Road.
The Italian club are pushing hard to secure an agreement and believe a deal worth £38m could be agreed upon in the coming days to take the Brazilian to Italy.
However, Fulham are in no rush to finalise Muniz’s sale, and according to Tutto Mercato, they are waiting for an offer from Leeds.
The Whites failed with a £32m bid for the striker earlier in the window, and are still pushing to sign him in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Fulham are expecting another bid from Leeds to further drive up the price as they are only keen to sell Muniz for a fee more than the £40m mark.
Leeds are working hard behind the scenes on a bid and will soon table an offer once they understand that the striker is still open to moving to Elland Road.
Leeds need to secure the player buy-in first
Muniz has been open to moving to Elland Road, but the offer from Atalanta seems to have turned his head, and he is now keen to move to Italy.
Leeds staying in the race suggests that the Whites still believe that the striker will move to Elland Road if they can agree on a deal with Fulham.
However, the Whites need to ensure that Muniz wants the move before tabling another bid, as they would want to avoid another Igor Paixao situation.
If they get the Brazilian, Leeds’ decision to remain patient will be vindicated, but if he moves to Italy, the recruitment team will come under pressure for wasting all summer on a striker who joined another club.
