Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish remained coy over the futures of Marc Guehi after their Community Shield victory over Liverpool, amid the reports that the likes of CHELSEA and Liverpool are keen to get a transfer deal done
Guehi has established himself as one of the most highly regarded and sought-after defenders in Premier League football since leaving boyhood side Chelsea for Palace in 2021.
A series of strong performances at Euro 2024 only enhanced Guehi’s reputation and the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool were all credited with an interest following last summer’s tournament.
Palace managed to fend off their Premier League rivals to keep hold of Guehi and handed the centre-half the captain’s armband ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, but there is talk that he could still make the move away from Palace this season.
Now – amid all the speculation and rumours – Parish has admitted that he would like his big stars to stay this summer window, but claimed that ‘players come and go’ – Asked by HaytersTV if days like beating Liverpool in the Community Shield are important in keeping Eze and Guehi at the club, Parish replied: “Yeah of course but players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it?
“Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like.”
IcFootballnews Says…
Guhis is a quality defender that has the ability to play for clubs like Liverpool and CHELSEA, so it will be interesting to see just who he chooses if an offer arrives in the coming weeks.
He is probably happy at Palace and will not leave unless he is told to go, but at the end of the day, he wants to win trophies and he is doing that where he is, so it would take something special to actually get him away.
But as we said, he is ready for that next step that is for sure.
