Arsenal want to sign Eberechi Eze

The new Premier League season gets underway on Friday night and Arsenal are aiming for the top spot. The Gunners have ended up as runners-up in the last three seasons.

Mikel Arteta is eager to improve on this record and has been very active during the summer transfer window. Viktor Gyokeres was their most recent signing, finally concluding a summer-long saga and crucially, providing Arteta with the striker he has long desired.

However, he is one of six new faces this summer, with Noni Madueke and Kepa joining from Chelsea, Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera arriving from La Liga, and former Brentford captain Christian Norgaard making the move across London.

There could still be more arrivals before the transfer window closes, while several departures are also expected.

Here are the latest Arsenal transfer rumours from Daily Star Sport.

If Arsenal are to add another attacking player, it's likely to be someone who can play out wide. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is their primary target, but time is running out, reports the Mirror.

Eze has a £68m release clause which expires on Friday, after which, his club will be able to demand significantly more. Arsenal need to offload players before they can make another purchase, having already spent nearly £200m.

This has paved the way for rivals Tottenham, but according to The Guardian, Eze's preference is to join the Gunners...if they can muster the funds in time.

In a stroke of luck, Arsenal may have been handed a significant boost in raising a substantial part of a potential Eze fee. Stuttgart are believed to be interested in Fabio Vieira, who hasn't quite hit the mark since his move to North London.

With Enzo Milliot recently completing a move to Saudi Arabia, Stuttgart are on the hunt for his replacement. Enter Mr Vieira.

The Standard reports that the Bundesliga side have already initiated talks for the player and that Milliot's departure could speed up negotiations.

Fulham cool on Reiss Nelson

However, it's not all rosy when it comes to securing a fee for Reiss Nelson. The Hale End graduate spent last season on loan with Fulham, with his season cut short due to injury.

There was an expectation that the Cottagers would make another move for the 25 year old. However, the Standard suggests that their focus has now shifted firmly to Shakhtar's Kevin, with a club record bid launched.

Fulham have already had bids turned down, but Marco Silva is adamant they meet Shakhtar's hefty valuation to seal a deal. This could spell trouble for Nelson, as a potential quick deal suitor has been taken off the table.
