'Movement started': Fabrizio Romano drops huge Leeds United transfer update on £20m star

The wait might be over for Leeds United where a move for Manor Solomon is regarded after Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the Israeli international.

Manor Solomon was a crucial player for Leeds United last season. The 26-year-old spent the campaign on loan from Spurs and in the end the flying winger scored 10 goals and assisted 12 more in 39 Championship matches. And it was Solomon’s goal that saw Leeds United win the Championship title on the final day of the season with a win against Plymouth Argyle.

Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, there were widespread reports that Leeds United were trying to sign Solomon on a permanent basis, but Solomon returned to pre-season training with Spurs and it looked as though he was set to stay and be given a chance to shine in the first-team under manager Thomas Frank.

However, it appears as though Spurs’ stance on Solomon has changed ahead of the summer transfer window closing on September 1st.

Fabrizio Romano shares transfer update on Leeds United target Manor Solomon

Throughout the summer, there have been conflicting reports over whether or not Solomon will stay in North London. But recently, all signs have pointed towards the Leeds United loan hero staying. After Heung-Min Son left Spurs and James Maddison suffered a season-ending injury, it looked inevitable that Solomon would be kept at Spurs next season, simply as back-up.

But the tune has changed in North London. Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that Solomon could leave in the final weeks of the window, with the winger having interest from both La Liga and the Premier League. Romano adds that ‘movement has started with Spurs aware of interest’, and Spurs will no doubt be aware of Leeds’ ongoing interest in a deal to sign Solomon on a permanent basis.

So far this summer, Leeds United have signed seven new players, but attacking signings remain thin on the ground. A return for Solomon though could well be the signing of the summer at Elland Road.

Spurs set asking price for Manor Solomon amid ongoing Leeds United links

It was recently revealed how much Spurs are willing to sell Solomon for this summer. Speaking to Leeds United News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed that Spurs will sell Solomon for slightly less than £20m this summer, which is well within Daniel Farke’s transfer budget, despite having spent nearly £80m on new players already this summer.

Bailey said: “They (Spurs) were willing to let him fight for his place, but I think it’s going to soon become apparent to Solomon that he’s not really a part of Tottenham’s plans. He would cost probably a bit less than £20 million.”

Leeds fans know just how good Solomon is and Farke does too. Speaking recently, Farke said Solomon was Leeds United’s standout player in the second half of last season, and so bringing him back for the Premier League would be a huge boost.

Solomon showed definite signs of Premier League quality in the Championship last season and at 26 years old, he could be a very good long-term investment for Leeds, who currently have quite a few older players in their ranks.

But with interest from elsewhere in the Premier League and from Spain too, signing Solomon may not be so straightforward.
