Tottenham could be ready to cash in on an attacker who is attracting interest this summer.
Tottenham could be set to cash in on a player who is unlikely to see regular football at the club. Spurs are on a mission to strengthen as they prepare for the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night, taking on Paris Saint-Germain in Italy.
Thomas Frank has been handed Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha this summer, but more signings are going to be required if Tottenham are going to go from being a struggling bottom half side to one capable of competing for a European spot while also battling in the Champions League.
Tottenham need a replacement for James Maddison, who is going to miss most of the season, and there are other areas in need of more depth, including out wide, up top and at centre-back. But Spurs do not have an unlimited budget, and there will be sales commissioned to help boost Frank’s war chest.
One of those sales could well include Manor Solomon, who would bring in a significant profit for Tottenham this summer. The winger arrived at Spurs for free in 2023, so any sale would be pure profit. Solomon impressed on loan with Leeds United last season, scoring the Championship-winning goal.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke said at the end of the season: “It’s impressive, especially when you keep in mind what happened last season. He’s shown unbeilable consistency. He’s not in the official team of the season but he's been outstanding, and with important goals. He always came back and delivered. I don't have to look after him. The fire is always burning, and sometimes you have to channel it a bit.”
Solomon has been back with Spurs until now, but it looks as though as departure is now looking likely, with Fabrizio Romano posting on X: “Manor Solomon could leave in the final weeks of the window with La Liga and PL clubs calling in the recent days. Movement started with Spurs aware of interest.”
It’s unclear how much Spurs will ask for Solomon, but the attacker is a sellable asset, and with interest building, an exit does seem likely. It will be interesting to see if Leeds consider a permanent move given Solomon’s success there last season.
Another player likely to leave this summer is Yves Bissouma, with the arrival of Palhinha likely meaning the midfielder sees little game time, at least as a starter. To add fuel to that particular fire, Bissouma was dropped from Tottenham’s Super Cup squad to face PSG due to consistent lateness in recent weeks.
Frank confirmed: “Bissouma has not travelled with the team because of disciplinary reasons. He has been late several times and the latest time was one too many. With everything you need to give your players a lot of love but also have demands and there also need to be consequences. This time there was a consequence for that.” Frank did add that the decision was an isolated punishment, but it certainly won’t quiet down rumours that Bissouma could leave the club this summer.
