‘Time is running out’ – Club could lose patience with Leeds United over Farke transfer stance

Werder Bremen have identified Leeds United’s Isaac Schmidt as priority target to strengthen their defence. Last month, claims from Germany reported the Bundesliga club have already reached an agreement with the fullback.

A week ago, Bild reported the German club have held positive talks with Leeds and are optimistic of securing the 25-year-old’s services.

Daniel Farke wants the English club to sign a replacement before letting Schmidt move to Germany, a stance which has been clear since the start.

On Tuesday, Deich Stube explained Werder Bremen want the Whites to make a quick decision on a loan move with an option to buy.

Wednesday’s edition of Bild explains Werder Bremen are working on signing Schmidt and RB Leipzig’s André Silva. They haven’t set a deadline to sign either of them, but ‘time is running out’ for them to take the Leeds player, and patience is wearing thin.

Schmidt can operate on both sides of defence. Bild point out Leeds right-back Jayden Bogle is currently on the sidelines.

Therefore, the report states the Swiss defender is expected to stay until Bogle regains full fitness or Leeds sign a new fullback.

Despite all of this, it’s been made clear in Germany that it’s unlikely Schmidt would be a starter at Werder Bremen anyway, so there’s always the chance Leeds United are holding out for a better loan opportunity.
