Manchester United’s pre-season is over and the 2024/25 campaign is days away from kicking off against Arsenal.
It has been a very positive pre-season, with the feeling around Manchester United the best it has felt in years ahead of a season.
Ruben Amorim deserves big credit for this, replicating what he did at Sporting Lisbon during his first summer by building a team spirit which is unbreakable.
Luke Shaw outlined this claiming Amorim has everyone on board, which hasn’t always been the case with other managers at Old Trafford.
This is evident from the players in training and in the pre-season games, with smiles and cohesion standing out compared to last season when neither were a regular occurrence.
The new signings at Manchester United have all made their mark, as Matheus Cunha instantly became a big figure in the dressing room with his Eric Cantona-like personality impressing.
However, the Brazilian isn’t as popular as one player.

How Diego Leon is settling in at Manchester United
Manchester United have made four signings this summer, with Cunha joined by Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

All four are considered to be great additions, with three immediately becoming starters but United also added wonderkid Leon to the ranks, as one for the future and also now.
Leon is seen as one of the best young players in his position and impressed during his opportunities over pre-season, pushing Harry Amass toward the loan door.
According to the Daily Mail, Leon has settled in well at the club, explaining he is very popular.
Leon is the talk of the United dressing room, with the report saying that he is the most popular player at present in the squad.
Given he doesn’t speak English, many of his senior teammates have become very protective of him, with other Spanish speakers going out of their way to help him settle in.
“He’s like a little brother to a lot of these guys,” one insider told the Mail. “They are giving him a bit of stick, having a laugh, but they are fiercely protective over him and are really looking after him.”
It is then concluded that Leon will play back-up to Patrick Dorgu this season, and could also get minutes with the U21s.

Manchester United have already seen Leon’s quality on the pitch
The signing of Diego Leon was expected to be one for the future, however, upon arrival he has been involved with the first-team.
Leon predicted he would earn a first-team spot and this is exactly what happened very early this summer. It was suggested that Leon had impressed Amorim during training.
After travelling to the USA on tour, Leon assisted a goal in United’s 4-1 with a driving run at the defenders, albeit the actual assist was a bit of a calamity as he tumbled upon making the pass.
United CEO Omar Berrada has even praised Leon for his quick adaption to the increased level of football.
This season, we fully expect Leon to get his competitive debut, maybe even as soon as a fortnight in the League Cup.
