Everton have announced that they have signed Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City.
The deal reportedly includes an option to buy for £50 million next summer, despite Grealish’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expiring in 2027.
The 29-year-old struggled for minutes last season under Pep Guardiola. He made only 16 starts in all competitions in 2024-25, with seven coming in the Premier League.
The England international was also not part of Guardiola’s squad that travelled to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Grealish came to City from Aston Villa in 2019 in a club record £100m deal. He has made 157 appearances across all competitions, with 17 goals and 23 assists to his name.
The forward’s arrival will likely excite supporters of Everton, who have lofty ambitions for the 2025-26 season.
Grealish boasts plenty of experience and has won the Premier League three times as well as the Champions League.
But the loan deal is said to have cost David Moyes’ side over £10m, with the club covering a large chunk of his £300,000-per-week wages.
The 29-year-old is a technically gifted footballer who is highly rated for his dribbling skills and ability to carry the ball forward.
He played a key role in City’s treble winning season, making 50 appearances.
But the winger was on the fringes of the squad last season and it is uncertain whether he can revive his career at Everton.
The Blues comfortably secured Premier League survival after Moyes took over as manager in January.
The club’s new owners are very pleased with the Scot’s work and they have backed him well in the transfer market.
Everton have signed Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall so far this summer.
They have also made Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent after his impressive displays during the second-half of last season.
