There have been calls for Manchester United to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
Many Manchester United fans are under the impression that a new goalkeeper is required for the team to improve this season.
After two questionable seasons at Old Trafford, questions exist over Andre Onana’s ability to lead from the back in the Premier League. The Cameroon international has done it in the Netherlands and Italy, and he will be aiming to prove his critics wrong in his third season at the club.
Onana has competed with Altay Bayindir for the role as first-choice goalkeeper, although there hasn’t been much competition.
That’s why there have been calls for United to sign a new keeper this season, amid links to Senne Lammens and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
United are also being linked with midfielders and they’ve yet to sell the players Amorim deems surplus to requirements.

Man Utd pushback on Gianluigi Donnarumma reports
News that Donnarumma has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for their Super Cup clash with Tottenham this week led to more links to United.
It didn’t take long for United to brief their stance on the matter as several reporters covering United were quick to dismiss the latest transfer claims.

United sources stress that Donnarumma is not being actively pursued and that a new goalkeeper is not a priority position this summer.
It is understood that United’s main objective right now is to have Onana fit and ready to start in time for the Premier League opener against Arsenal.
United admire Donnarumma but they have major concerns over his £200,000-per-week wages, along with the fact they are prioritising the search for a new midfielder.
Amorim is comfortable with the idea of starting the new season with Onana between the sticks.
Radek Vitek and Elyh Harrison remain part of Man Utd’s plans
United have sent many players out on loan, hoping they gain experience at senior level and come back better players.
Simon Stone of the BBC adds to his claims that United sources stressed that loanees Radek Vitek and Elyh Harrison remain part of Amorim’s long-term plans.
The two young goalkeepers have already impressed since leaving United on loan this season.
Amorim’s coaches will be keeping a close eye on their progress throughout the season.
