Chesterfield host rivals Mansfield Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Man United and Man City enter the Carabao Cup draw for the second round of the competition.
Man United will enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage rather than the third this year with the Premier League teams entering earlier. Teams with European football such as Manchester City, will enter at the third round stage, so the Red Devils will have to get through one game before they could be drawn against their rivals.
In last year’s Carabao Cup, United were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Tottenham Hotspur. However, just two years ago, Man United won the competition, beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the final at Wembley.
They will be hoping for an easy draw in the second round to help them advance to the crucial third round, when a lot of the big hitters will enter the draw.
When is the Carabao Cup draw?
The draw will take place on Wednesday, 13 August, during the build-up to a Carabao Cup first-round match between Birmingham City and Sheffield United.
There has been no official time confirmed for the draw to take place, but it is expected to happen at around 7.20pm, with kick off coming at 8pm. Something that Man United won’t be used to is that in the second round, the draw remains regionalised, so there will be a Northern section and a Southern section. Normal drawing is resumed in the third round, when the remainder of Premier League clubs join the competition.
The second round matches will take place on the week commencing August 25, a week before the first international break of the season at the start of September.
Where can I watch the second round draw?
The draw taking place before the Birmingham vs Sheffield United game will be shown on Sky Sports Football during the build-up to the game. The game itself will be broadcast on ITV4 too, but the draw itself is only available to watch on Sky Sports.
Live updates will be provided during the draw for non-Sky customers on the EFL website, with the second round fixtures being announced via live text updates.
Man United’s ball number and who they could face
