Aston Villa revive move for Monchi’s priority target – Deal not hard to get done

Aston Villa are set to accelerate their efforts to bring Marco Asensio back to the club from Paris Saint-Germain, using the money from Jacob Ramsey’s sale to Newcastle United.

That’s according to [journalist Sacha Tavolieri for Sky Sports Switzerland](https://www.sky-sport.ch/fr/articles/aston-villa-football-club-accelere-pour-marco-asensio/), with him reporting that Aston Villa want the Spaniard back.

He reports that things are accelerating for Asensio at Villa Park after Aston Villa struck a €40m agreement with Newcastle for Ramsey on Tuesday.

That will give them the leeway to make their own moves and Asensio is considered a priority by Monchi after his successful loan spell from PSG in the second half of last season.

He is now expected to submit a first offer to PSG for Asensio so that they can start negotiations and reach an agreement. PSG have already made it clear to the Spaniard that he is not in their plan, and they’ll sell if a satisfactory offer is made this summer.

An offer of around €20m, including bonuses, is expected to be enough to satisfy those in charge in Paris. Asensio already has an agreement in place on personal terms over a three-year deal.

Now we’ll take this with a pinch of salt as Tavolieri has been a little painting-by-numbers with some of his claims this summer and this feels like him keeping the Asensio story alive for the sake of it.

Aston Villa reviving their interest wouldn’t be surprising now they’ve made wiggle room in the budget, though, that’s fair to say.
