The NFL Announced Travis Kelce's Top 100 Ranking. Fans Are Not Happy

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs came within one game of the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat last year, but their performance against the Philadelphia Eagles left a lot to be desired.

The Eagles embarrassed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, winning 42-20 and ending Kansas City's hopes for an unprecedented third straight Lombardi trophy.

Kelce struggled heavily in the Super Bowl, recording only four catches for 39 yards. The tight end is an all-time great, but fans believe he's lost a step as he enters his 13th year.

Kelce's peers don't seem to share that opinion.

The NFL is releasing its annual list of the top 100 players in the league, and Kelce comes in at No. 37. It's a drop from some of his all-time highs, but fans believe there's a bit of an artificial boost at hand for this particular version of Kelce.

"Bro? 800 yards and 3 TDs makes you a top 40 player?????," one fan asked, wondering why Kelce's relatively pedestrian stats warranted such a lofty spot on the list.

"They need to stop making this after this year," said another fan, clearly upset with the method used to determine the rankings.

"37 is a nasty reach lol," one fan added.

"He shouldn't even be top 50 are we serious right now dude," another fan said.

"37 TEs were better than him last year," one fan claimed.

"There's gonna be alotta folks mad he's this high cuz they believe he's washed, but he'll still be propped up as an elite weapon in arguments against Mahomes tho," another fan said.

"What has he done to be ahead of Kyle Hamilton, Malik nabers, puka nacua and Sam laporta," one fan asked, pointing to some of the younger talent in the league that impressed in 2024.

How Does The NFL Top 100 Work?

The NFL's annual top 100 list is voted on by the league's players. Active players are asked to rank their peers based on their performance from the previous season, and they fill out ballots where they list their top players around the league.

Each place on their ballots has an assigned point value. After getting personalized rankings from the players who participate each year, the final results are tallied. The list of the top 100 is then presented to fans, usually during the summer or before the start of the new season.

Kelce was ranked No. 9 on the list last year, and No. 5 in the 2023 poll. He'll retire as one of the greatest tight ends of all time and will likely be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but it's clear that today's NFL fans believe Kelce is past his prime.
