Tom Brady's transition from playing in the NFL to commentating on it was not always smooth and easy.
FOX signed Brady to a 10-year, $375 million contract to make him their No. 1 NFL game analyst once he finally hung up his cleats for good. Last season, Brady made his broadcasting debut, and the results and reviews were mixed, to say the least.
Brady seemed to grow more comfortable as the season progressed, which would make sense. In an appearance on The Joel Klatt Show this week, the seven-time Super Bowl champion admitted to "growing pains" as he got used to the finer points of being on the mic.
"I thought I was prepared, because I had done a lot of research and I had a year to prepare and a lot of practice games," Brady told Klatt, via Front Office Sports. "But there's absolutely nothing that I did that could really prepare me for what I was about to endure. And there was a lot of growing pains through the year for me, just in terms of prep and, obviously, going on-air, and there's things you messed up and there's things that you make mistakes."
We would bet on Brady being more in his element in year two. If he's not, FOX might have a problem on its hands for the remainder of that lucrative deal.
Brady's first two 2025 game assignments revealed
Last Friday, FOX announced its broadcasting assignments for Brady and partner Kevin Burkhardt for the first two weeks of the regular season.
In Week 1, the pair will call the New York Giants against the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 7.
The following week, they're covering the Super Bowl rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff for that game is set for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sept. 14.
Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi will serve as the sideline reporters for both games.
