Fabrizio Romano shares which club Gianluigi Donnarumma wants to join - Manchester United or Manchester City

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with a move to both Manchester United and Manchester City this summer.

The Italian is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he was among the biggest reasons why Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League last season.

However, Donnarumma has been left out of PSG’s UEFA Super Cup squad, and he has no future in the French capital.

TBR Football revealed that Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in Donnarumma and have held talks.

Now, his preferred destination has come to light.

Manchester United target Gianluigi Donnarumma wants to play under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City

Despite their underwhelming campaign last time out, Manchester City are one of the best teams on the planet.

The Sky Blues don’t just have a great team, but they also have a manager who is arguably the greatest of all time.

Almost every player in the world would jump at the chance of working under Pep Guardiola, and Gianluigi Donnarumma falls into the same category as well.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that the PSG goalkeeper is ready to join Manchester City this summer, but this deal will only happen if Ederson leaves the club.

He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “My understanding is that on Monday night, PSG and Man City spoke about the Donnarumma story, and the request from Paris Saint-Germain was €50 million. Obviously, this is impossible to get.

“Man City are interested in Donnarumma if Ederson leaves – only if Ederson leaves. Galatasaray are keen on Ederson. So let’s follow that situation. But if Ederson leaves, Donnarumma could be an option for City.

“The contract is not a problem, from what I understand. It’s not fully completed yet, the agreement, but it’s not a problem.

“Donnarumma is open to joining Manchester City, wants to play Champions League and wants to play for Pep Guardiola if they can. Donnarumma is open.”

Romano added that at the time of recording, Manchester United had not made any official move to sign Donnarumma.

Gianluigi Donnarumma could struggle at Manchester City

Donnarumma is a brilliant goalkeeper, and his performances for PSG last season proved that.

However, Manchester City’s interest in the Italian is difficult to understand because the Italy international is not the kind of goalkeeper Guardiola usually goes for.

Donnarumma is not great on the ball, and that is a problem for Manchester City, who are so used to someone like Ederson.

To add to that, the PSG star is not as good at claiming high balls into the box. He could get exposed in the Premier League for that reason.

This is why it’s surprising to see City’s interest in Donnarumma, but if Guardiola thinks he is good enough, fans should trust him.
