Roma and Villarreal could be set to do battle for West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who report that the West Ham man continues to be a valuable player for Roma.
The Greek defender has been followed by the Giallorossi for several months, but they need to finalise an exit before they can focus on the defender.
That’s a potential issue as Villarreal have ‘made an entry’ in the last few hours. They’re also keen on the defender as they look to strengthen their squad before the end of the window.
West Ham are open to a sale but will only consider a permanent exit, not a loan deal, and that must be valued at around €20m. That would see them recover the money they spent to sign the 27-year-old from Stuttgart in 2023.
Whether Roma or Villarreal are willing to spend such a sum isn’t made clear and it certainly seems that neither have made serious moves as yet.
The West Ham defender is very much on their radar, though, and a name to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
