“I didn’t think twice” – Player thrilled after Newcastle United exit, keen to win trophies

Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has insisted he didn’t think twice about leaving Newcastle United for Sevilla this summer.

[Estadio Deportivo](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/futbol/sevilla-fc/vlachodimos-pense-venir-sevilla-ganar-trofeos-que-quiero-20250813-507699.html) cover comments from the goalkeeper today after he completed a loan move to the Spanish side this week.

Vlachodimos has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan deal, hoping to get his career back on track after a disappointing few years in England. The deal does not include an option to buy, but he’ll be hoping to convince enough regardless.

He originally moved to England with Nottingham Forest in a €4.9m move in 2023 but would only stay with the club for a year, making seven appearances, before moving to Newcastle United in a United in a €23.6m move last summer.

The goalkeeper spent even less time on the pitch at St James’ Park, managing just one 45-minute appearance in a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in EFL Cup in October last year.

He’ll now be the number one at Sevilla and admits that he didn’t think twice about leaving Newcastle this summer to take up the opportunity in Sevilla.

_“For me, the truth is that as soon as I had the opportunity to come to Sevilla, I didn’t think twice,”_ he said during his presentation.

_“I’m really hungry and eager, and the decision on who starts will be up to the coach. I’m happy to be here. It’s been very easy to join the team. I have fantastic teammates. They’ve welcomed me phenomenally from the very first second._

_“The hardest part will be remembering all the names. From the moment I heard they wanted me; I had no doubts. LaLiga is fantastic for continuing to grow as a player, and the other part is that Sevilla has seen how good it is. Winning trophies, that’s what I want. Winning trophies again.”_
