Pep Guardiola has a clear goal at Manchester City heading into the 2025/26 season.
After an underwhelming campaign last time around, the legendary coach will be hoping to reclaim the Premier League title from Liverpool over the coming 12 months. This will be a tough challenge after the way the Reds have strengthened over the summer.
The Manchester club have strengthened heavily themselves with James Trafford being the sixth new face to join Guardiola’s squad, and the Premier League giants may not be done there.
The rebuild that has taken place over the summer should set Man City up for the next two seasons, but it is now uncertain if Guardiola will be at the Etihad Stadium for the 26/27 campaign.

Guardiola signed a new Man City contract in November, which keeps him at the Manchester club until 2027, and the 54-year-old has made it clear that after his current deal expires, he will be taking a break from management.
Guillem Balague has now provided a further update on the future of the legendary coach, with the journalist stating that Guardiola will not continue in club football after his contract finishes in two seasons with Man City. This has 100% been decided.

The big worry for City fans is that nobody can say if the Spaniard will continue at the Etihad Stadium next season, with it now a possibility that the legendary coach ends his time in Manchester once the upcoming campaign concludes.
Heading into the current season, Guardiola is said to be refreshed and is delighted with the additions of Pepijn Lijnders, James French and Kolo Toure to his coaching staff.
It remains to be seen how this impacts Man City throughout the 25/26 campaign, but it is something that will certainly worry the Manchester club’s rivals.
Pep Guardiola impressed by two new signings
In addition to Guardiola’s future, Balague has stated that the Man City boss has been impressed by new signings Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders over the summer.
“Pep is impressed by left back Ait-Nouri, who loves coming inside and is a great number ten too! And by Reijnders, who can do the Rodri role but is good at breaking lines of pressure with a pass (the best one in Serie A last season) and scoring,” the journalist wrote on X.
Reijnders’ brace against Palermo has Man City fans excited to see what he can do this season, as the Dutch star is exactly what the Manchester club were missing last term.
It remains to be seen if the changes at the Etihad Stadium will be enough to close the gap to Liverpool, but City are expected to run the Merseyside club close over the coming months.
