Lakers will only make trades under one condition

Trevor Lane says the Los Angeles Lakers are fully committed to winning now and will only make trades they believe can push them over the top.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in full win-now mode with 40-year-old LeBron James and Luka Doncic in his prime, according to Trevor Lane.

"I can tell you guys very definitively, the Lakers want to win. They want to win right now," Lane said on The Lakers Nation Podcast. " They don't want to wait, they want to win basketball games. They want to win a championship.

"There's this idea that, you know, LeBron wants to win and Luka wants to win, but the Lakers aren't ready to go do that right now. No, that's not the case. I promise you, the Lakers want to win," the reporter added.

A recent report suggested the Lakers are unlikely to make more trades in the near future, despite having opportunities to include guard Gabe Vincent and forward Jarred Vanderbilt in deals.

According to Lane, these reports should be taken with a grain of salt — it may simply be that the offers they received weren't good enough.

"They want to make sure that they make the move or moves that really put them over the top," Lane said.

This offseason, Los Angeles has already reshaped its roster by adding guard Marcus Smart, center Deandre Ayton, and wing Jake LaRavia. Also, Luka signed an extension, while LeBron picked up his player option.

The LA Lakers are coming off a first-round playoff exit to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
