Ruben Amorim keen on Premier League youngster

United boss Ruben Amorim is planning a move for top Premier League midfielder Carlos Baleba.

Amorim wants Premier League sensation at Old Trafford

After a busy summer focused on sharpening their attack, Man United may be ready to switch gears. Now the focus appears to be on adding steel and composure in the middle of the park. Carlos Baleba, a 21-year-old Brighton playmaker, has emerged as the top name on Utd’s shortlist.

Sources suggest talks have taken place through agents, with personal terms unlikely to be an issue. Amorim is said to be a big admirer of Baleba’s talent. The Utd head coach views him as the perfect fit for his pressing style.

Meanwhile, Brighton are in no rush to cash in. The Seagulls believe Baleba’s value could soar after another season in the PL. That is similar to how Moises Caicedo’s price skyrocketed before his £115m move to Chelsea. The midfielder is tied down at the Amex until 2028 and a club option for another year. Given that, Brighton hold all the cards.

United’s transfer calculations

United’s ownership group, INEOS, may still look to test Brighton’s resolve with a formal bid before the September 1 deadline. The club has funds available thanks to an extended credit facility. They could also use projected sales to balance the books. Plans are already in place for major squad changes by 2026.

While Brighton have yet to name their price, any offer would need to be substantial to even spark talks. Amorim’s desire for a dynamic ball-winner in midfield remains clear. Baleba’s mix of physical presence and technical skill fits the bill. Bringing him in this summer wouldn’t be that easy. But, the Red Devils have shown the willingness to push when necessary for a top target.

United’s interest has grown as other top clubs have reported interest as well. So, the next few weeks could be key to whether Baleba remains in place or makes a move to Old Trafford.
