LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers was dominant and sometimes unstoppable last season, even though he turned 40 years old.
He was quite literally doing things that no one in their 22nd season has ever done.
According to Basketball Forever, he had a season average of 24.4 points per game.
In the fourth quarter, he averaged 7.2 points, while he put up 6.5 in the second, 5.5 in the third, and 5.3 in the first quarter.
For comparison, Vince Carter averaged 5.0 for all of his 22nd season.
This just goes to show, once again, that James isn’t letting age get in his way.
Most PPG by an NBA player in their 22nd season:
24.4 — LeBron James
7.2 — LeBron in the 4th Q
6.5 — LeBron in the 2nd Q
5.5 — LeBron in the 3rd Q
5.3 — LeBron in the 1st Q
5.0 — Vince Carter

24.4 points is impressive for any player, but especially one who has been in the league for more than 20 seasons.
It’s impressive, yes, but not that surprising.
Fans have been elated to see James remain healthy and driven as he grows older.
He is about to start his 23rd season and will be 41 years old in a few months, but there is little doubt that he will still be averaging more than 20 points per game.
Everyone knows that James will eventually retire, but if he keeps playing like this, no one is sure when that will be.
Is there a possibility of him continuing to play basketball at 44 or 45 years old?
And if he is, will he still be with the Lakers?
Unless James faces an unprecedented dropoff, he will keep scoring huge numbers in the new season.
Age is slowing James down in a few ways, but not when it comes to being a scoring machine.
