Man City could now sign player Zlatan Ibrahimovic deemed the 'best in the world' as agent drops …

Manchester City have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window so far and they could yet bring in more players, including one previously deemed “the best in the world”.

This summer, Manchester City have signed the likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri to complement an already strong squad.

However, with just over two weeks left of the transfer window, City could yet make more signings that would make them even stronger.

And in recent days, speculation has intensified regarding City and a player who would certainly take them up another level.

Gianluigi Donnarumma could soon be Manchester City-bound

The player in question is Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after falling out of favour with Luis Enrique.

PSG have been unable to agree a new deal with Donnarumma and, with the Italy international’s contract expiring next summer, they have frozen him out.

On Tuesday night, a report emerged claiming Donnarumma has agreed personal terms with Man City, suggesting things are moving fast.

Better still, Donnarumma’s agent dropped an intriguing Premier League-related hint as he let rip at PSG.

Enzo Raiola said on Tuesday night: “Perhaps only in the Premier League can they satisfy the club’s exaggerated financial demands.”

Obviously there will be considerable competition from other teams, but City will certainly fancy their chances of signing him, particularly if Ederson goes.

What Gianluigi Donnarumma could bring to Manchester City

Donnarumma may not have played in the Premier League, but most fans will know exactly how good he is and what he could bring to the competition.

The 26-year-old made his AC Milan debut at just 16 years of age and, in the past decade, he has clocked up 412 appearances for Milan and PSG, along with 74 caps for Italy.

Donnarumma’s heroics have helped PSG win 10 trophies including the Champions League and four Ligue 1 titles, along with the Euro 2020 title for Italy in 2021.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who made 42 appearances alongside Donnarumma at AC Milan, called the Manchester City target the “best in the world” when speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport in June 2021.

The Swede said: “He grew up at AC Milan, he could have been the team’s goalkeeper for twenty years… he’s the best in the world.

“He could have become Mr Milan, like Paolo Maldini. Whether (Donnarumma) leaves or not, I don’t know. It takes two to tango. I’d tell him to stay at AC Milan until the end.”

Meanwhile, Alessandro Costacurta recently said of Donnarumma’s critics, as per Football Italia: “They say he isn’t the best when he has to come off his line, but they always forget to mention that he’s the best in the world at everything else!”
