August 13 – Manchester City has launched ‘StickerBook Challenge’, a brand-new gaming experience on Roblox in an effort to help younger fans connect with the club on one of the world’s most popular digital platforms for under-18s.
The experience, marketed as a first-of-its-kind, will see fans challenged to find Man City men’s and women’s first team player stickers hidden amongst popular Roblox games, forming a kind of collectibles treasure hunt. The challenge has been led by City Fan Labs, a unit that creates next-gen fan experiences.
The rewards will be both in-game and in real life: as players complete their collections, they will earn exclusive City-themed avatar wearables and the chance to unlock membership to Cityzens, the Club’s loyalty programme.
To help draw in young fans on matchdays, the club has opened an online City Fan Zone in each of the games featuring real-time scores, player stats and a bonus prize spinner tied to Man City fixtures.
StickerBook Challenge is Manchester City’s latest activation on Roblox, building on the success of ‘Blue Moon’, the Club’s first City-themed immersive experience on the platform which has reportedly seen over ten million visitors to date.
The experience will run from August 12 to November 14.
Roblox applies strict safety features, making it an ideal environment for marketing to young fans. Manchester City say they are committed to creating ‘safe and enjoyable’ environments for all supporters online.
Manchester City will begin their Premier League season next Saturday away against Wolves. The squad has only played out one pre season game after having limited recovery time due to the club World Cup this summer – a 3-0 victory over Palermo.
