Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi has reportedly been left ‘furious' with one of his Catalan teammates following a dressing room bust-up that almost turned physical. It’s even got to the extent where he’s asked the club’s higher-ups to sell said teammate.
Ahead of Hansi Flick’s 2025/26 La Liga curtain-raiser against Mallorca on 16 August, the German tactician is hoping to keep spirits high as they look to retain their status as the champions of Spain – but, despite that, tensions are simmering in the squad.
It stems from Gavi, who played 42 times for Flick last season, falling out with a player he lined up alongside in the club’s famous La Masia academy. Now, reports have suggested there is no way back and that Gavi has asked for him to be put up for sale.

Gavi scores for Spain
Gavi – widely regarded as one of the best young players in world football – turned 21 years of age earlier this month and the radio silence from Fermin Lopez rose suspicion over potential problems between the two. Fermin, unlike Gavi’s other teammates, failed to post a message or gesture for his birthday.
The rocky relationship between the pair has stretched back to their time together in La Masia. Allegedly, the latest tension between the two is by virtue of a simmering clash between their respective girlfriends, who have never been sung from the same hymnsheet.
But it was on Wednesday night when Fermin dropped a bombshell. Taking to Instagram, the twice-capped Spain international posted a cryptic, black-and-white image of himself celebrating on his knees. The caption read as follows:
“Bad people never win, nor those who look the other way, nor those who make betrayal their way of life and cowardice their banner. It’s only a matter of time. They lose every day because the makeup they cover themselves with every morning, soon or later, fades away, and they end up revealing themselves to the world as they really are.”
As reported by GOAL, their relationship has been left in ruins – and SPORT has claimed that “there’s no way back”. Gavi reportedly met with Barca power broken Alejandro Echevarria and asked the club to part ways with his compatriot this summer.
It didn’t take long for Fermin, 22, to get word of Gavi’s plea, hence his subtle dig on social media. Reports have suggested that Flick is keen to heal their once-brotherly relationship, largely for the betterment of his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Premier League side Manchester United are keen admirers of the 22-year-old Spaniard. The local report also suggests that Ruben Amorim and his entourage have submitted an initial offer of €80 million (£69m).
