Manchester United seem keen on having a blockbuster summer, that would help them have a competitive squad going forward.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe doesn’t look to be afraid to open his purse strings this transfer window, bringing in marquee signings.

The Red Devils have already wrapped up the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko for a combined fee of close to £200m. That is a completely revamped attack from what Ruben Amorim had at his disposal last season.
There are other positions that the club seem keen to reinforce in the coming weeks before the summer transfer window slams shut. One of the many talented players that they are interested in is Barcelona midfield star Fermin Lopez.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Barca were demanding around £60m to sell the player and Man Utd were preparing an offer to that effect.
However, now as per Fichajes, Man Utd are willing to offer more than the demanded fee, close to €80m, to sign the Spaniard.
Fermin took the bull by its horns in the Joan Gamper trophy against Como, which Barcelona won 5-0. He scored two goals in the first half – both screamers and made the world sit up and take notice of him ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is one of Hansi Flick’s most important players at the Nou Camp outfit, despite not always being a nailed-in starter and the German coach is unlikely to be willing to let Fermin leave this summer, irrespective of the offer.
The injury history of Dani Olmo also doesn’t allow Barcelona the luxury of letting Fermin go, irrespective of how badly Manchester United want him. As talented as the Spaniard is, this isn’t a realistic transfer target for the M16-based club.
Of course, we have seen many things even more unexpected happen in the transfer market. However, Man Utd should avoid focussing their efforts on Fermin and rather look at more attainable targets.
Let’s wait and see how things play out on this front in the coming days.
