Arsenal could prioritise outgoings during the last phase of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have made an outlay of £200 million on new signings, and may have to recoup funds before a late spending spree.
Turkish outlet Sabah now (page 15) claim that Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has convinced Oleksandr Zinchenko over his role.
The Portuguese tactician has told the 28-year-old that he will be playing as a midfielder rather than his conventional left-back position.
Arsenal want at least €20 million to sanction his sale, but Fenerbahce sporting director Devin Ozek has proposed a €3m loan fee with a €10m buy clause.
The Gunners’ stance on the loan-to-buy offer has not been mentioned.
Arsenal should explore the permanent sale of Zinchenko
The Ukraine international has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal. He is the third-choice left-back behind Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori.
In the recent friendly win against Athletic Club, manager Mikel Arteta also opted for Timber in the defensive role alongside Calafiori and Lewis-Skelly.
It is quite evident that Zinchenko is up for sale. Mourinho has convinced the defender into a move, but we don’t see a deal happening at the moment.
With under a year left on his contract, it does not make sense for the Gunners to negotiate another loan deal without an obligation to buy next summer.
Fenerbahce should afford the defender’s wages due to the low taxes in Turkey, but Arsenal need the guarantee of a permanent transfer to sanction his exit.
Otherwise, they should wait for better proposals on the table. Arsenal are unlikely to renew Zinchenko’s contract, given his higher wages and current age.
