Last month, Corriere della Sera reported that Federico Chiesa is seriously considering an exit from Liverpool after being advised by Italy manager Rino Gattuso to find a new club.
The winger has been keen on a move back to the Serie A, having rejected a chance to join Fenerbahce.
More has now emerged about the 27-year-old today. Il Mattino, relayed by AreaNapoli, report that Chiesa is indeed seeking a departure from Liverpool.
The report claims that the Italian’s agent Fali Ramadani and his father Enrico have also made a decision that ‘they want to leave’ – indicating that everyone around the ex-Juventus player is sure about departing Anfield.
They are currently awaiting a response from Liverpool, who have been informed of this choice. But the Reds are waiting to sign another attacking player this summer before letting Chiesa depart.
Previously, it has been indicated that Napoli would be frontrunners to sign the Italy international, whose prominence at the Azzurri has reduced since he joined Liverpool.
With the World Cup coming up next year, he needs to play regular first-team football at club level to play in the major tournament in 2026.
