PHILADELPHIA — Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders suffered what the team confirmed is an oblique injury Wednesday in the team’s joint practice with the Eagles.
The injury occurred early in practice, causing Sanders to be held out of the rest of drills. He did not participate in any 7-on-7 or full-team sessions.
Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel handled the reps in full-team drills.
The latest twist in the Browns’ four-player quarterback battle comes after head coach Kevin Stefanski said earlier Wednesday that Sanders would start Saturday’s preseason game against the Eagles, if Gabriel isn’t ready to go. Gabriel, who recently returned to participating in team drills, is still recovering from a hamstring issue.
