West Ham are exploring a move for Liverpool right-winger Ben Doak before the transfer window closes.

Doak spent last season out on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 league games.

Doak already has six Scotland caps to his name and is looking for regular game time ahead of the 2025/26 season.

This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, who is a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist.

Doak’s hamstring injury will likely be looked at ahead of a transfer

Last season, the teenager suffered a significant hamstring injury in February and which kept him out for the rest of the season.

Dr Rajpal Brar claims that this was likely a Grade 4 full rupture, which is what ruled him out for months rather than weeks.

As West Ham are keen on signing Doak, the injury expert expects them to take a closer look at the hamstring mentioned above before deciding to secure his services.

David Lynch reported on 5 August that Liverpool have previously turned down offers worth £20million for the Scottish winger.

Discussing Doak’s major injury last season, Dr Brar told West Ham Zone: “West Ham will likely take a closer look at the hamstring injury from last season, which was likely a Grade 4 full rupture, to assess for healing and any outlier changes that may go beyond their risk tolerance.

“He has been missing in action since February, so that’s a pretty significant setback.

“If the club are optimistic that he has shrugged it off, then they may go ahead and sign him.”

West Ham must focus on alternatives to Doak

Signing Doak is risky for the London Stadium outfit due to his limited senior experience and recent surgery, which could affect his durability.

At 19, his valuation is arguably steep for an unproven talent.

West Ham should explore more established wingers, as Graham Potter would want players who can strengthen the eleven and Doak may just not cut it.
