Manchester United are reportedly unlikely to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba this summer despite being heavily linked with the Cameroonian's services.
Baleba is believed to be Man United's number one target in the remainder of the transfer window, with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim determined to boost his midfield department.
The speculation surrounding a potential move for Baleba continues to gather pace, with the Cameroon international said to be open to making the move to Old Trafford.
However, according to The Telegraph, it is looking increasingly unlikely that he will move to Man United this summer due to the amount of money that would be required to sign him.
The report claims that Brighton want in excess of £100m for the 21-year-old, and the Seagulls are not prepared to drop their asking price, as his contract is due to run until the summer of 2028.

Baleba made the move to Brighton from Lille in 2023, and he has featured on 77 occasions for the Seagulls, scoring four times and registering two assists in the process.
The expectation is that Baleba will leave the Amex over the next 12 months, with the majority of the major clubs in European football believed to be admirers of his talents.

It is clear that head coach Amorim wants a new midfielder this summer despite already having a number of options in the middle of the park.
Bruno Fernandes could operate in a deeper area, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo then featuring as the number 10s behind fellow new arrival Benjamin Sesko.
Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro are also among the options in the middle, but Amorim is said to be concerned by a lack of mobility in that area, so it is expected that a new midfielder will arrive before the end of the window, even if the club are priced out of a deal for their top target.
