Paul Heckingbottom’s side reached the fourth round of the competition last season and are in the hat. There are five more first round ties taking place on Wednesday evening, with the draw to be conducted prior to kick-off of those. Round two remains split into north and south sections, with the 11 non-European Premier League clubs joining at this stage.That sees Burnley, Everton, Leeds United, Manchester United, Sunderland, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham, West Ham and Wolves enter. A handful of Championship clubs are already out. PNE’s Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers fall into that category - Valerien Ismael’s men were beaten 1-2 by Bradford City.
