Liverpool head into this Premier League season as reigning champions, and after an impressive summer of spending, they will be looking to repeat the trick.
That said, there are a few issues in the Liverpool side right now that need addressing.
Indeed, as good as the Reds’ squad is on paper, there’s a big gap in the defence.
Virgil van Dijk is the best defender in the world according to some, but, sadly, beyond that, there are problems at Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konate is a great player, but his contract situation is up in the air, while speaking on TalkSPORT, Robbie Fowler has highlighted another issue with Konate.

Robbie Fowler says Ibrahima Konate is made of glass
Fowler spoke about Liverpool’s defensive depth and the fact that both Konate and Joe Gomez are liable to get injured.
In fact, Fowler went as far as to claim that Konate is made out of glass, owing to his patchy fitness record.
“Liverpool have got obviously Van Dijk, they’ve got obviously, Konate, and they’ve obviously got Gomez as the three centre halves,” Fowler said.
“When you look at Liverpool, Konate is, don’t get me wrong, is a fantastic player, but he’s made out of glass. So, there’s a potential that he could be out. Gomez is made out of eggshells isn’t he. He is. So, god forbid if anything happens to Big Virg. It could be a bit of worrying thing.”
Ibrahima Konate’s injury history
Fowler says that Konate has a history of injuries, and he’s not wrong.
Indeed, while the £35m man is brilliant when he’s fit, keeping him fit for an entire league season has proven to be something of a challenge in recent times.
His injury history since joining Liverpool shows that he has had his troubles.

Luckily, help could be on the way.
Marc Guehi has been linked to Liverpool, while Geovani Leoni is a Liverpool target too so the Reds’ lack of defensive depth may not be a problem for much longer.
