Wolves are in the hunt for some new signings before the end of the transfer window
Wolves will be looking to add more quality to their squad before the end of the transfer window. The market shuts on Monday 1st September at 7pm. They could do with some more firepower in their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The likes of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri have left them since the end of last season. Vitor Pereira is preparing for his first full campaign at the helm. The Portuguese boss has made a positive impression since his move to England.
Wolves update regarding Nicolo Savona
As per TuttoJuve, Wolves have Juventus right-back Nicolo Savona on their ‘radar’ along with Newcastle United. Southampton have also now been credited with an interest in the £21million-rated ace. However, they may struggle to lure him down to the Championship after their relegation.
Savona, 22, has been on the books of his current club for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy ranks and was a regular at various different youth levels. The Italy youth international is now facing an uncertain future in Serie A.
He made his debut for Juventus back in 2024 and he has since gone on to make 40 appearances in all competitions, 28 of which have come in Serie A, and he has chipped in with two goals. The right-back has also had a loan spell away in the past at SPAL to get some experience under his belt. His current deal expires in 2030 so he still has plenty of time left to run.
Will Wolves sign Nicolo Savona?
Time will tell whether Wolves will be able to sign Savona. Newcastle are also in the frame and could offer him Champions League football. It would be a surprise if Southampton got him in the second tier though.
Savona would give Pereira another option to pick from in his position. They have a vacancy to fill following the end of Nelson Semedo’s contract. The Aosta-born man would give Pereira more competition and depth ahead of next term.
Wolves start with a tricky home clash against Manchester City this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side are expected to come back stronger after a disappointing past season. They then face an away trip to AFC Bournemouth before ending August against Everton on their own patch. They have the chance to do some more business in the meantime to boost their ranks and add depth.
Regarding recruitment, Pereira said last month: “My ambition is to be in the middle of the table and not always worry about the bottom places. It's to look upwards. But right now, we've lost (Matheus) Cunha, we've lost (Rayan) Ait-Nouri, one to Manchester United and one to Manchester City, two very important players for us. I want to prepare a team to start the league competitively, but at the moment it hasn't been possible. I hope there will be some news in the next few days about bringing in people to increase the quality of the squad.”
