Barcelona are open to selling Dani Olmo to solve several of their problems, with Tottenham linked with a move for the attacking midfielder.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona are mulling over selling Dani Olmo after just a single season since his arrival in the summer of 2024. The Spanish attacking midfielder has produced decent performances, contributing to 19 goals last season. But the rise of Fermin Lopez could persuade the Catalans to part ways, as a sale might help them immensely.
Barcelona are still expected to make a big sale to balance their books and make some financial room to ease things through. The Catalan club have faced a few uncertain summers when it comes to signing players and then subsequently registering them, as the problem continues to persist even now.
The Blaugrana are still evaluating with Hansi Flick as to which players could be put up on the market, and which ones they want to keep. While there are many of who are guaranteed to stay, some are considered an opportunity to ease their problems.
Dani Olmo is now seen as someone Barcelona could sell, as Flick reportedly considers Fermin Lopez as a starter in the attacking midfield position. Gavi is also seen as someone who could take up that role, which does leave the 2024 arrival, Olmo, as a dispensable asset.
Lopez was also seen in the same light, but the promising star does not want to leave Barcelona. Flick potentially views Lopez and Gavi as viable competitors for the attacking midfield position. Barcelona would entertain bids in the region of €60 million for Olmo, which not only boosts their finances but also frees up wages and space in the squad to ease through player registration.
Tottenham are interested in Dani Olmo
The report names Tottenham are one of the potential suitors for Olmo should the €60 million-rated Barcelona playmaker be put up for sale. Spurs need an attacking midfielder following the injury to James Maddison, and they have been linked with Nico Paz as an option.
Tottenham are also in talks with Eberechi Eze, but fear Arsenal in the race, with the latter the current favourites to land the Crystal Palace star. Whether Dani Olmo appeals to Thomas Frank ahead of the next few days remains to be seen, but the player’s decision will also be keen if Barcelona decides to sell and Spurs are in the race.
