The arrival of Joao Pedro at Chelsea is less of a transfer but more like a reunion. The Brazilian forward, signed on 2 July 2025 from Brighton & Hove Albion quickly settled in at Cobham. Pedro was already training when the rest of the squad rolled in from their summers five weeks off back in Brazil – four days which included air miles and a grumble about Spain’s trials.
Settling in Quickly
That head start paid off. Pedro made his debut in the Club World Cup in a quarter-final and looked instantly at home. The early sessions were comfortable at Cobham as he settled in from Brighton and the warm natured characters of staff and players made it seem as though he had been a Chelsea player for years. “Everyone said I looked like I’ve been here a long time already,” he smiled.
Another plus has been his bond with fellow summer signing Jamie Gittens; time spent together both on and off the pitch helping both integrate quicker. The duo’s rapport is already evident at the training ground ahead of their latest tilt at a new season.
Ready for the Season
Pedro’s Chelsea career launched with silverware. He scored in both the semi-final and final of the Club World Cup. Just weeks after signing, he lifted the trophy. The dream start boosted his confidence.
Speaking about his summer with the squad, Pedro said: “The other players deserved their break, they had a long season. But I think everyone is fresh now and ready for the next season.” The Premier League kick-off is on Sunday, 17th August 2025, with Chelsea hosting Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge and he is eager to make an impression early in order to lay some foundations for the season with a good start.
Confident, settled, and already a trophy winner— Joao Pedro looks ready to make his mark in blue.
