Chelsea’s chase for Xavi Simons continues, however no agreement but amid ongoing talks. The RB Leipzig midfielder has settled personal terms with the Blues, but the two clubs have yet to agree on a transfer fee. However, reports strongly suggests that talks go on, and both parties will keep in touch over the next few days.
Fee Gap Causing Delay
Leipzig value Simons at around £60 million, while Chelsea hope to land him for slightly over £50 million. The German side are in no rush to lower their demands, knowing the 22-year-old’s stock is high after an impressive season in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig have also explored the idea of a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku, but the Chelsea forward rejected a return and his wages create a stumbling block. A potential loan has emerged as a fallback, though Chelsea still prioritise a permanent move.
🚨 I'm told the situation with Xavi Simons is not changing! Chelsea are working on the deal, but there is still no agreement. I can guarantee they are still negotiating for Simons but have not agreed, so let's see what's going to happen.

City Watching Xavi Simons from the Sidelines
Manchester City are closely monitoring the situation and could attempt a late hijack if negotiations between Chelsea and Leipzig stall further. While Simons is still willing to join Chelsea and has been waiting patiently for progress, the longer the process drags on, the greater the risk of other clubs entering the race.
Chelsea are working on a number of deals this month and have held talks for Alejandro Garnacho but the Blues believe that Simons would be a significant huge coup as part of Enzo Maresca’s rebuild.
Chelsea are currently trying to make the numbers work with Leipzig but, until a fee is agreed, we’re all just waiting. It is entering the vital stages of the transfer window and in each of the next couple of days we will know whether or not Xavi Simons will be a Chelsea player or if another club swoops in to seize the final opportunity.
