Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had an impressive camp, culminating in his preseason start against the Carolina Panthers, where he threw for two touchdowns. Unfortunately, all of Sanders’ positive momentum came to a screeching halt early on Wednesday.
“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders injured his oblique in practice today, early on, and will be evaluated. That may take him out of the next preseason game — the latest in a string of Cleveland nagging QB injuries,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport in the morning.
Later in the, Rapoport provided fans with a critical update.
“From the#Browns: Further medical testing and examination on Shedeur Sanders revealed an oblique strain. He is considered day to day, won’t practice tomorrow and is unlikely to play in the game on Saturday.”
Fans reacted to the brutal injury on social media.
“I legit would have thought it was impossible for a team to have 3 QBs get injured during camp when you aren’t even allowed to touch them,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“At this point the Browns have already made their decision on Shedeur especially since the owner didn’t want him. Will not matter if he played in the third preseason game anyway,” someone else added.
“They gotta investigate the Training staff, ain’t no way 4 QBs got injured,” another fan added.
Hopefully, Sanders will make a full recovery in time for the regular season.
