Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent has handed Manchester City a boost with his response regarding the club’s interest in the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper.
Manchester City have bolstered their ranks significantly this summer, including in goal, but now Gianluigi Donnarumma has found himself available.
PSG have been unable to agree a new deal with Donnarumma and, with the Italy international’s contract expiring next summer, they have frozen him out.
This week, there have been reports claiming Man City have already agreed personal terms with Donnarumma.
Fabrizio Romano spoke to Enzo Raiola on Wednesday and asked him about Man City’s interest in Donnarumma, to which the agent gave an intriguing answer.

Raiola admitted that both he and his client were shocked at the turn of events, claiming it was not PSG’s decision but rather that of head coach Luis Enrique.
Romano then asked Raiola whether the Premier League is now the most likely destination for Donnarumma as he mentioned Man City’s interest.
Raiola replied: “Gigio’s personal growth, which includes a step-by-step approach for him to further his career, is something we’ve always pursued in every way.
“The Premier League… yes, it’s a really interesting competition because everyone talks about it, and besides, I have several clients who play in the Premier League.
“I think that this is now the right step after Italy and PSG, to move to the strongest and most competitive league in the world.
“So, if we think about further growth and the big next step for a player as important as Gigio, we think the Premier League is, let’s say, the most decisive and complete step.”

What Gianluigi Donnarumma could bring to Manchester City
Donnarumma may not have played in the Premier League, but he is the kind of player who fans all over the world will know very well.
The 26-year-old made his AC Milan debut at just 16 years of age and, in the past decade, he has clocked up 412 appearances for Milan and PSG, along with 74 caps for Italy.
Donnarumma’s heroics have helped PSG win 10 trophies including the Champions League and four Ligue 1 titles, along with the Euro 2020 title for Italy in 2021.
FourFourTwo recently deemed Donnarumma the best goalkeeper in the world.
“Standing over 6ft 4in, Gianluigi Donnarumma is a daunting opponent for attackers, and that’s before he even attempts a save,” they wrote.
“But he has the shot-stopping ability to match, combining his sizeable frame with a surprising athletic streak to get his fingertips to the most unlikely of saves.”
