The NFL’s Indianapolis Colts signed USF running back Nay’Quan Wright on a three-year, $2.97 million contract,the team announced on Friday.
Wright became the third Bull from the 2025 class to sign for an NFL team, joining New York Giants’ offensive tackle RJ Perry and Los Angeles Rams’ defensive tackle Decarius Hawthorne.
He is the first USF player to join the Colts sinceMarlon Mack was drafted to the team in the fourth round of the 2017 draft.

Wrightstarted his college career with the University of Florida before transferring to USF as a senior in 2023.
In two seasons with the Bulls, he ran for 1,307 yards and scored 16 touchdowns in 26 games.
His first season with South Florida in 2023 was his most productive. He started all 13 games and had career highs in every rushing category, rushing for 797 yards, scoring eight touchdowns, and averaging 61.3 yards per game.
Wright reunites with former Gators quarterbackAnthony Richardson, with whom he shared the field for three seasons in Florida, from 2020 to 2022.
He will also team up with former Bulls wide receiverAjou Ajou, who signed with the team in January after a one-year stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
Wright’s contract will start with a base salary of $860,000 and will increase to $1.12 million by its final year for an average of about $980,000 per year,according to Sportrac.
Standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing in at 196 pounds, he posted a 40-yard dash of 4.38 seconds during USF’s Pro Day in March, which would’ve ranked him tied for second place among running backs at the NFL combine.

Wright’s addition adds more depth to a Colts offense that struggled to put the ball in the end zone during their24-16 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Wright joins a backfield featuring star running back Jonathan Taylor and Khalil Herbert.
He was a part of USF’s notable backfield last season, along with Kelley Joiner and Ta’Ron Keith. The trio combined for 1,728 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2024, and were a big part of the Bulls’ offense.
Joiner and Keith remain unsigned for the 2025 NFL season.
