Jerry Jones revealed on Wednesday that he battled stage 4 melanoma for more than a decade. Fans have rallied around him:

Jones told The Dallas Morning News that he received a June 2010 diagnosis and later took an experimental trial drug to battle the cancer. The Pro Football Hall of Famer had two lung and two lymph node surgeries.

Most importantly, Jones says that he is tumor-free. Jones will reportedly discuss his health in the fifth episode of the Netflix documentary “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” that debuts next week.

Social media showed many Cowboys fans collectively sharing a similar sentiment: their frustrations with Jones and the Cowboys, who haven’t reached a Super Bowl since 1995, don’t mean they want Jones to suffer.

“Hey, as much as we all get sick and frustrated with the guy, I’m happy he was able to overcome it,” one Reddit user explained. “Life and health are more important than sports. Good to hear Jerry.”

Added another: “He may be the reason this team has seen a Super Bowl in 30 years but I’m glad cancer didn’t claim another victim here.”

Jones, who turns 83 in October, called the PD-1 drug a “real miracle.” Neither Jones nor the Cowboys specified when he began taking PD-1.

“I’m not fond of Jerry as an owner these days but I don’t want the man to die,” read one Reddit comment. “Cancer sucks, glad he beat it!”

The Cowboys have won three Super Bowls since Jones bought the team in 1989, though none since January 1996. Dallas went 7-10 last year amid various injuries and lost Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott to season-ending hamstring surgery in mid-November.

“It’s fun to get wound up about our favorite team and least favorite GM, but I’m happy he was able to overcome this,” another Cowboys fan wrote. “[Expletive] cancer.”
