Kristian Campbell has been on fire over the last month with Triple-A Worcester Red Sox.
Campbell was optioned to Worcester on June 19 after a prolonged slump, but lately, he’s been reminding everyone why the Red Sox signed him to an eight-year, $60 million extension in April.
PitcherList’s Griffey Geiss provided a comprehensive update on Campbell on Wednesday.
“Kristian Campbell tallied another knock today,” Geiss posted to X. “He’s been unstoppable lately, going 28-for-76 (.368) with 7 XBH and 10 BB over his last 21 games… he’s got hits in 18 of those.”
“I should mention he owned a 1.040 OPS and 179 wRC+ over that span prior to today’s action,” Geiss continued. “He’s played a good amount of 1B, too, and has looked fine there.”

Is Campbell primed for a return to Major League Baseball this season? With Red Sox first baseman Abraham Toro struggling of late, some fans have been pushing for a Campbell promotion.
Geiss added his take on the level of Campbell’s readiness: “I won’t jump the gun on his return… there are a couple of things I’d like to see him improve before rejoining the lineup, but it’s great to see him back on the board production-wise.”
When asked by another X user to specify, Geiss complied:

“I’d like to see the EVs and xwOBA tick up a bit before he takes over for Toro.”
Campbell has now played 41 games for the WooSox in 2025. He’s tallied a slash line of .279/ .404/ .435/ .839 with five home runs, six doubles and 21 RBIs.
Campbell’s season — with both the WooSox and Red Sox — has been a rollercoaster full of far more highs than lows. The 23-year-old burst onto the MLB scene by reaching base in his first 17 games. Campbell had a .902 OPS to end April and was honored with the American League Rookie of the Month Award.

May and June were a different story entirely, with Campbell hitting just .154 over that stretch and looking less comfortable on defense.
Some critics felt that Campbell was overwhelmed with being tasked to learn a brand new position (first base) amid the Rafael Devers drama.
Campbell didn’t start any games at first for the Red Sox before being optioned, but it looks like the organization is preparing him to do so upon returning to the majors.

When that will be, exactly, depends on more variables than merely Campbell’s performance in Worcester, which of late has suggested that Campbell’s due for a return to the show.
