Jerry Jones shares disturbing secret

The Dallas Cowboys have, without a doubt, the most unique front office structure in the NFL. Franchise owner Jerry Jones also serves as the general manager, with his son, Stephen Jones, acting as executive vice president.

The Cowboys are also in headlines, if not because of on-field drama, then for the off-field antics of the Jones family. Many oer the years have suspected that Jerry has always operated this way on purpose, increasing the drama around the team to up the intrigue around it, even if it occasionally means harming the on-field product.

Now, Jones is saying the quiet part out loud and suggesting that that’s exactly what he’s been doing.

“The Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year. When it gets slow, I stir it up… There is controversy. That controversy is good stuff in terms of keeping and having people’s attention,” Jones said, via league insider Ari Meirov.

Fans reacted to the disturbing revelation on social media.

“I’ll die on this hill. The Cowboys intentionally delay contracts for the media clicks it generates. They know exactly how to get the headline, and it’s all part of a deliberate plan,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“It is good for everything but what the Cowboys fans actually want; to win the Superbowl,” someone else added.

“More worried about being in the news than winning,” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Cowboys can win a Super Bowl in the face of Jones’ antics in the coming seasons.
