Broncos community shaken by sudden death

The NFL is a sports league first and foremost, but its teams and their players become a part of the fabric of their cities and communities. That’s why its always tough when a member of these communities passes on.

That’s what the Denver Broncos franchise is dealing with at the moment, as it deals with the sudden passing of one of its most beloved members.

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of#BroncosROF wide receiver Lionel Taylor. An original Bronco and one of the most dominant players of his era, Taylor had a tremendous impact on the franchise during his seven seasons in Denver (1960-66). Our hearts go out to Taylor’s family and friends,” the Broncos shared on their official Twitter account.

Fans reacted to the heartbreaking news on social media.

“One of the AFL’s greats. Lionel Taylor was catching 100 passes in a season before it was cool. A true pioneer for the position. Thoughts are with his family and the Broncos community,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“An all time great player had the privilege of seeing his jersey in canton Ohio in the hall of fame in 2015 he will be missed,” someone else added.

“One of the greatest Broncos ever, sad to hear this,” wrote another fan.

Hopefully, Taylor’s friends and family get all the time they need to heal and cherish his memory.
