Sergej Jakirovic has revealed why he's so keen to strike a deal for Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer as he looks to beef up Hull City's options in the middle of the park.
Collyer has been a long-term target for the Tigers and talks with the Old Trafford giants have been underway for some time. And City hope they can get a deal concluded before the end of the week, though they do face competition from other rivals including Sheffield Wednesday.
City have been keen to add depth to the heart of their midfield throughout the summer and Jakirovic sees Collyer as a player with the capability of coming in and making an impact in what's a fledgling career.
"Number six or number eight position (Collyer can play). We're waiting now for a decision from Man United and Toby as well," Jakirovic told Hull Live. "I'm waiting for the answer in the next one or two days.
After making a handful of appearances in the Premier League and Europa League for United in what was an injury-hit season last term, the Bosnian believes Collyer has the drive and hunger to succeed.

"He needs the minutes, and with that, we will help him and he will help us," he continued, "In a game, he can run 12km, he's good on the ball and he's a bit like Joel Ndala. He has a big potential, and he has hunger and ambition, and this is what we're searching for."
