Manchester United’s recruitment has drastically improved since Ineos gained sporting control at Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made sweeping changes to the recruitment and scouting departments at Manchester United in an attempt to get the Red Devils back to the top of English football.
Last season, all of Ineos’ signings were successful, and they will hope for a similar hit rate with this summer’s new additions.
The signings made last summer have now had a year to settle into new surroundings, and Ruben Amorim and club chiefs will hope they can step up to a new level in 2025/26.
One signing who impressed in particular was Leny Yoro, and it seems United’s scouts were never in doubt of his ability.

Leny Yoro wowed Man United scouts before signing
Last summer, United beat Real Madrid to Yoro in what was seen as a huge statement of intent.
United signed Yoro for £52m, and the French defender enjoyed an incredible debut season at United despite having to adapt to three different managers while also dealing with injury setbacks.
It seems United’s scouting department always believed in his potential.

According to The Athletic, United scouts “marvelled at his bravery and committed defending”.
The teenage defender’s report had “top marks”, with scouts pointing out his “athletic profile, assured positioning, awareness and concentration when defending.”
After meeting with Yoro last summer, United staff also picked up on his “future leadership potential”, suggesting he could one day work his way into Amorim’s leadership group at United.
Leny Yoro is already fulfilling his potential at Man United
Last season, it was not even certain that Yoro would be a starter for United, but he quickly made himself a regular in Amorim’s side.
During this summer’s pre-season, Yoro has become undroppable and it feels inevitable that he will be included for the Premier League opener against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Ineos broke their transfer philosophy for Yoro, but the decision has paid off massively.

In Yoro, United now have one of the most promising young defenders in world football, and he is incredibly comfortable in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system because of his immense passing ability.
Because of his ability, Amorim has given unique instructions to Yoro, giving him responsibility to carry the ball forward for United and thread passes through defensive lines.
