Porto eye Zinchenko move

FC Porto have made initial contact with Arsenal over a possible move for Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian defender, who earns around £200k-a-week, could be heading for a new challenge if talks develop.

Porto test the waters for Arsenal’s Zinchenko

FC Porto are looking to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal. They’ve spoken to the Gunners about the defender. Although, talks are still in the early stages. Both the clubs have a positive relationship at the moment. That would help any transfer negotiations in the coming weeks.

The left-back joined the Gunners in 2022. Since then, he was an important player the at the North London club. The left-back had seen limited time on the pitch last season mainly due to injuries. It seems the head coach prefers other players over him at the moment.

He is capable of playing in defence but also in midfield. That makes him a good option for many teams. That said, Porto recognizes his combination of technical ability and experience could be of great help.

Transfer race heating up

Porto’s interest comes as they prepare for a campaign where squad depth could make the difference domestically and in Europe. **The Ukrainian**‘s £15m valuation is not expected to be an issue. That is especially with his track record of performing at the highest level. Although, no formal bids have been registered as of yet. But, the Portuguese side is keeping a close eye on the situation. They could pounce if Arsenal give the go-ahead.

Meanwhile, Fulham have also expressed interest. But, they have not moved quickly enough, so Porto may be in a position to strike. For the the North London side, a sale this summer would make a lot of sense. For Zinchenko, it might offer a fresh start and a role at one of Europe’s most respected clubs.
