All the latest injury news surrounding Arsenal and Manchester United ahead of their Premier League opener.

Arsenal are back in Premier League action at long last on Sunday when they face old rivals Manchester United in one of the biggest games of opening weekend. The Gunners have title ambitions again this season, but they will face a tough test out of the gate against a United side that has received heavy investment this summer.

Arsenal have done plenty of shopping themselves, and Mikel Arteta says he is very pleased with the depth he now has in his squad. He said: “I’m happy, I think having everybody involved at their best, that's what we want and then we're going to have to start with 11 players and other players are going to have to impact the game.

“At the end they're going to have to earn it on that pitch with every day, with their behaviour, the quality and the connection that they show with the team and it's exactly what we need. We never had the demands that we have this season in terms of the competition we have to play and the amount of games already that these guys have to play. So it's very much needed, nothing different to any of the top teams in this country, nothing different.”

That depth will be tested over the course of the season, but Arsenal are in pretty good shape when it comes to injuries heading into the new campaign. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding the Gunners and United.

Lisandro Martinez - Out

Martinez is going to be out until late Autumn with a serious knee injury. Ruben Amorim confirmed at the time: “Licha is a difficult situation. He's going to be out for a while. We don't know the extent of the injury, but it's an injury that is going to take time.”

Andre Onana - Doubt

Onana said just over a week ago: “I feel good, I feel great. It’s been a few difficult weeks, but yeah, hopefully, I will be back for the start of the season.” He will be a doubt until ruled otherwise.

Joshua Zirkzee - Doubt

Zirkzee has ben targeting a return for the new season. He said in late July: “I've got a small injury, but it shouldn't take too long to recover now. I've got great physios working with me every day. It's pre-season, so unlike last season, where I wanted to push myself to be back for the final, now I just want to be there for the start of the season.”

Noussair Mazraoui - Out

Mazraoui has a hamstring problem and he is not expected to be in contention here.

Gabriel Jesus - Out

Jesus is going to be out until late Autumn to early winter as he fights to recover from a ruptured ACL he suffered early in the calendar year.

Leandro Trossard - Doubt

Trossard should be okay for this one, with Arteta saying after the final pre-season friendly: “I think he is going to be [OK] in a few days. He had a little niggle in the groin - but he should be fine.”
