Son Heung-min says £43m Manchester City player is the most underrated footballer around

Son Heung-min has named one of Manchester City’s stars as the most underrated player he can think of.

The South Korea international, who came up against Manchester City 21 times over the years, recently swapped Tottenham Hotspur for MLS side LAFC.

Goal US interviewed Son following his move to the United States, asking him to give some player names in a number of categories.

And when it came to the ‘underrated’ category, the former Spurs ace went with a City player he feels hasn’t had the level of recognition he deserves.

Bernardo Silva is Son Heung-min’s pick for most underrated player

The player in question is Bernardo Silva, who may be a City legend but who Son feels should be more highly rated elsewhere.

Son named Harry Kane as his top goalscorer, while Cristiano Ronaldo got the nod for skills and Kylian Mbappe was selected for speed.

Lamine Yamal was named the player with the most potential, before Bernardo got the nod for being the best underrated footballer around.

Cristian Romero was deemed the scariest player, while Mohammed Kudus was Son’s strongest player.

Finally, on the subject of the GOAT, Son remained on the fence as he went with both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Will Bernardo Silva stay at Manchester City this season?

Bernardo struggled at times last season and, with his City contract expiring in 2026, speculation over his future started doing the rounds.

Galatasaray were linked with Bernardo earlier this summer, but their interest appears to have cooled as the player expressed his desire to stay at City.

“I know what I’m going to do but it’s not the time to talk about that,” the £43million man recently told reporters, as per The Guardian.

“I’m very focused on my season. I’m very focused on performing well for Man City.

“When the time is due I will talk about it. I have one year on my contract so obviously I can leave next season.

“This season will for sure be with Man City. I’m going to stay. I’ve had options in the past and this year, like last year and this year, my option is to stay at Man City.”
