Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spurs are now leading the chase for Eberechi Eze ahead of Arsenal.
Spurs edge ahead in pursuit for Arsenal target
Arsenal may be falling behind in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements. This comes as their rivals from north London, Tottenham Hotspur are moving ahead. But, they have certainly maintained their interest in the Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.
Talks reportedly began in early July, and excitement built among the **Gunners**‘ fans. Although, as per Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have moved to the front of the queue ahead of Arsenal.
Thomas Frank’s side is making a solid push in this summer window. They are working hard to seal the deal as early as possible. Additionally, they are also chasing Man City winger Savinho.
The North London side are working towards player exits. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are among those discussed as possible exits ahead of the new season.
Gunners weighing their options
Romano’s latest update suggests Arsenal are planning to move for an alternative to Eze as well. That will only happen if the there’s a good opportunity for the club. Firstly, the club has to make sure that their exits are confirmed. That could mean nothing major happens before the September 1 deadline.
For Eze, missing out on Arsenal might be a big blow. That is especially after reports claimed that he will likely be joining the Gunners earlier in the summer.
While Arsenal’s approach to the transfer market may seem slow, it could be justified given their squad status. They have no need to bring a player into their squad in a rush right now. Tottenham’s lead does not mean the deal will go through. But, they are currently leading the race to sign the player.
For now, Arsenal fans may need to hold onto their expectations. They will be watching how the market changes in the coming weeks. The Eze chase has become another classic north London battle, and it’s Spurs who currently have the upper hand.
